What is a vCard, and why would I use it instead of a plain text QR code?

How should I display a QR code at a shop counter or table?
Print it with dark modules on a light background, keep a blank margin around it, and size it for the scanning distance — roughly 2 cm (0.8 in) wide for close-up scans and larger for signs read from farther away. The download is 216×216 px, so for big prints scale it up with nearest-neighbor resizing to keep the edges sharp. Use a stand or sign holder at eye level, laminate it or use waterproof sticker paper in wet areas, and test-scan the final print with a couple of phones.
