How to calculate print size

Frequently asked questions

Are DPI and PPI the same?

PPI describes image pixels per inch; DPI technically describes printer dots. They are often used interchangeably in print instructions, but your printer may distinguish them.

Can I increase quality by changing the DPI label?

No. Print detail comes primarily from actual pixel dimensions. Relabelling DPI alone does not add pixels.

Is 300 PPI always required?

No. Viewing distance, print method, paper, subject, and printer requirements affect the suitable resolution.
